Ravel

Ravel is a meditative video work exploring how our memories form vital, yet treacherous trails across time, place and relationship. Allowing us to access who we once were, are and will be through a singular, startling moment of shared recollection, memory is a tender space of both solace and confrontation. The jumper, which is being unraveled in reverse, along with the voice of the Artist’s aging Grandfather, invite us to consider the way remembering undoes time, dissolves the present embodied moment and pulls us apart, while simultaneously restoring identity, creating connection and mesmerizing our hearts. In this way, our bodies become messy, fickle, powerful time machines, through which we can meet each other in fleshy, gentle, attentive love.
